How to change an USB drive name?

We very often want to change the drive letter of an USB connected device. Here’s how to do it.

1. Right click My Computers Icon – > Manage.
2. Select Disk Management and choose the USB drive from the list view for which the drive name needs to be changed.
3. Right Click the drive and select “Change Drive Letters and Paths…”  from the Menu.
4. Click Change from the popup screen and assign a new drive letter to the USB drive.

If you are on Windows Vista:

1. Go to Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management->Storage->Disk Management
2. Right click the desired USB drive and select the menu option “Change Drive Letter and Paths..”
3. Click Change from the popup screen and assign a new drive letter to the USB drive.
