The best leaders have 2 qualities in common:

1) they recognize the need for change before it’s too late and

2) they are willing to make tough decisions that may not be popular, but are needed to move forward.

The opposite is also true. Those who procrastinate or avoid decisions find that competitors have taken over, technology has passed them by, or key people have resignedand moved on.  The skills required to anticipate the need for change arenot complex. Sell Your Decisions

“Your best decisions enable you to look forward to getting up each morning.”

Having selected the best course of action to be taken, test your decision. Discuss it with key associates and those who will be most directly affected by it. Try to draw out any obstacles or objections and have a backup plan ready. But remember, when you announce your decision, you must be prepared to sell it by I) presenting the facts as you see them, 2) pointing out the weaknesses you found in other plans, 3) responding to all known objections and explaining how they will be met, 4) detailing the benefits, and 5) finding new believers and advocates. By word and action, let it be known that you are committed to yourdecision, and to making it work.

Two frogs

A number of frogs were traveling through the woods. Two of them fell into a deep pit. All the other frogs gathered around the pit. When they saw how deep the pit was, they told the two frogs that they were as good as dead.

The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit with all of their might. The other frogs kept telling them to stop, that they were as good as dead.
